Finding inspiration in both her family’s artistic practices and the environment of Jemez Pueblo\, Wall ask questions surrounding food sovereignty\, language\, and connection to place.  “I have always considered Pueblo pottery to be an essential ingredient in my life\,” said Wall. “Over the last thirty years\, I have begun my creative process with the same actions as my mother\, my grandmother\, and my great grandmother before her. I dig clay and volcanic ash in the same places that my mother showed me as a young girl. On view from May 2021 to June 2022 at The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture the stunning art in the exhibit embodies the intellectual content of Native traditions expressed in glass. SUMMARY:Exposure: Native Art and Political Ecology
DESCRIPTION:10:00 am – 5:00 pm* \n \n\nIAIA Museum of Contemporary Native American Art \n Mon & Tue – Sat 10:00 am – 5:00 pm/Sun 11:00 am-4:00 pm \nExposure:  Native Art and Political Ecology\, including the works of 32 international indigenous artists\, documents their responses to the impacts of nuclear testing\, nuclear accidents\, and uranium mining on Native peoples and the environment. The traveling exhibition and catalog give artists a voice to address the long-term effects of these man-made disasters on Indigenous communities in the United States and around the world. Indigenous artists from Australia\, Canada\, Greenland\, Japan\, Pacific Islands\, and the United States utilize local and tribal knowledge\, as well as indigenous and contemporary art forms as visual strategies for their works.
